Immunisations
Your child’s first immunisations are normally given by one of the
GPs at a Post Natal appointment at 8 weeks after the birth of your
baby. Immunisations after that are generally given by the nurse.
You can find out more about your child’s immunisations in our
Child Health section.
Please remember to always bring your child’s red book to the
appointment.
Child Health Surveillance
The doctors and health visitors carry out 8 month and 3 1/4 checks
on Wednesday afternoons. The health visitors will send an
appointment when the check is due.
Health Visitors
The health visitors' job is to help people stay healthy and to
advise on prevention of illness. Health visitors are qualified
nurses who have done extra training in childcare and development,
and health promotion. All pregnant women and families with young
children have a named health visitor; but they are also available to
patients of all ages, and can advise on a wide range of social and
health topics.
They can be contacted in their office at the Surrey Docks health
centre, Monday - Friday between 9.30 and 4.30
Telephone: 0207 231 3085.
