Over 40 Health Checks |
If you are over 40 we would encourage you to attend for a
routine health check every 3 years. There is good evidence
that doing some simple checks in this age group can prevent
or reduce the effects of certain conditions such as heart
disease later in life.
This clinic is run by our health care assistant (HCA) . When
you phone reception please ask them to make you an 'Over 40
health check'. You will be given the opportunity to see a
nurse or doctor if the health care assistant picks up
anything that she thinks we can help you with further.
At the appointment with the health care assistant the
following tests will be offered:
- Height weight and waist circumference checks
- Blood pressure check
- Blood tests including tests for Diabetes and Cholesterol
- Urine tests ( please bring an early morning sample on the
day you attend)
The HCA will also advise and discuss certain issues such as:
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Diet
- Exercise
Some good websites to look at before you attend will help you to
understand why we offer you these checks.
