Phlebotomy |
If you are asked to have a blood test by one of the GPs or
Practice Nurses, this can either be done at the surgery by
appointment or on a walk in basis at the hospital.
The GP or nurse will give you a form which you must either take with
you to the hospital if you get your blood taken there or hand in at
reception if you are making an appointment at the practice (please
note our receptionists are not able to book you an appointment
without your blood form).
Our Health Care Assistant Ann Cook is a fully trained Phlebotomist .
There are a limited number of appointments available each week with
her to have blood taken at the surgery. As the appointments are
limited we encourage those who are able to attend the walk-in
clinics at the hospital to do so, in order that these appointments
can be used for our older or disabled patients. However if you wish
to have your blood test taken at the surgery please let the GP or
nurse know at the time the test is being requested.
St Thomas’ Hospital offers a service from 8.30am to 6.00pm Monday to
Friday. The blood test clinic is located on the ground floor of the
Lambeth Wing.
Quieter times tend to be between 8.30-10.00am and 3.00-6.00pm.
Guys Hospital offers a service from 8.30 am to 1.00pm Monday to
Friday. The blood test clinic is on the Fourth Floor of Guys Tower
at Guys Hospital.
Please make sure you understand which tests you are having so you
can let the receptionists know which results you are expecting. For
details on how to obtain your blood test results, please
