Taking your medication as
directed
If you have been prescribed some medication and it doesn’t agree
with you it is important that you tell us. It is a rare situation
where we would expect you to take a medicine that made you feel
worse than you did before you took it. There is often an alternative
treatment so please let us know if there have been problems.
Incorrectly used medicines cost the NHS a lot of money every year so
please let us know if you are unable to take them as we prescribed.
Repeat prescriptions
Many patients require the same medicine on a regular basis e.g blood
pressure tablets or asthma inhalers. These are put on repeat
prescription in order to make it convenient for you to take
medicines without needing to see someone every time you need it. All
medicine needs to be reviewed on an annual basis, however some
medicines require patients to be reviewed more often.
When your medication review is due a GP may call you or a letter
will be attached to your prescription advising you to make an
appointment.
